The research site of Sassari is located since 2001 in the CNR Research Area of Sassari. The structure consists of about 1500 square meters, divided into offices and laboratories. The ICB evolved from the previous Institute for the Application of Advanced Chemical Techniques to Agrobiological Problems of the CNR (founded in 1982), which has always been devoted to the study of innovative synthetic methodologies, and to the purification and characterization of molecules of biological interest. The Institute currently employs 19 researchers, 2 technologists, 7 collaborators and technicians and 2 administrators. The laboratories host both specific research activities (organic synthesis and catalysis laboratories, drug discovery, inorganic synthesis, metabolomics, chiral chromatography and precision medicine) and analytical activities for general use, including research support (common laboratories with analytical instrumentation). Additionally, there is a laboratory specifically dedicated to high and medium pressure reactions of CO and hydrogen. High performance instrumentation for the chemical-analytical field aimed at the recognition and quantification of small organic and metallorganic molecules is available. The site hosts students for their experimental thesis activities or internships / training courses and foreign researchers in the context of international collaborations.
