Paola Carta was born in Sassari on October 18, 1972. She graduated with honors in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies (CTF) in 1996 at the University of Sassari. From 1997 to 2000 she worked as a researcher at the CNR Institute for the Application of Advanced Chemical Techniques to Agrobiological Problems in Sassari. In 2005 she obtained her PhD in Organic Chemistry at King’s College London and in 2004 she participated as Visiting PhD student at the Institute of Organ-Element Compounds at the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow. From 2005 to 2006 she carries out research work as postdoc at the Universitè Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris. She returned to Italy in 2006 and until 2018 she worked as researcher at ICB UOS Sassari, Porto Conte Ricerche srl (Alghero, SS) and for the NeED Pharmaceuticals s.r.l. Since 2018 she holds a permanent researcher position (III level) at the Institute of Biomolecular Chemistry UOS-Sassari.

Organic synthesis of natural and natural-like small molecules with potential biological/pharmacological activity and analogues of natural products.
Study, extraction and characterization of active ingredients from biomass through environmentally sustainable methods.
