Gennaro Roberto Abbamondi
Experience & Activities
Dr. Abbamondi graduated in “Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology” at the Federico II University of Naples in 2009, with an experimental thesis on secondary metabolites of plant origin.
In 2013 he obtained the title of Doctor of Research in “Environment, Resources and Sustainable Development” at the Parthenope University of Naples, joint PhD with Hasselt University (Belgium), discussing the thesis on “The role of Quorum Sensing in marine bacteria, Archaea and inter-kingdom communication”. Academic degree according to the Flemish higher education structure: “Doctor of Science: Biology”.
Between 2010 and 2019 he actively collaborated with the CNR-ICB and the CNR-IPCB of Pozzuoli (NA), with abroad experience as Researcher in multiple countries including Belgium (Hasselt University), Morocco (Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University) and the Antarctica (XXXIV Antarctic Expedition).
He also worked as a post-doc at Hasselt University (Belgium, 2015) on “The role of Quorum Sensing in biofilm formation of selected strains” and at Toulon University (France, 2016) on the “Structural characterization of exopolysaccharides produced by marine biofilm-forming bacteria”.
Since February 1st 2022 he is a III level Researcher at the CNR-ICB for the Strategic Area of Chemistry and Materials for Health and Life Sciences.
