The Institute of Biomolecular Chemistry, branch of Sassari, coordinates, together with the network of Institutes of the Department of Chemical Sciences and Materials Technologies, the event “Chemical tales of circular economy”, which will take place simultaneously from 8 to 11 March in fourteen Italian cities, involving thousands of students through lessons, seminars, conferences, interactive exhibitions, shows and thematic workshops. The event, organized by the ICB, will take place in Sassari on March 9, 2023 at the Research Area in collaboration with the Institute of Food Production Sciences (ISPA), Institute of Genetic and Biomedical Research (IRGB), Institute of Animal Production System in the Mediterranean Environment (ISPAAM), Institute of BioEconomy (IBE) and Institute for Research on Terrestrial Ecosystems (IRET). The day is structured in two moments: in the first part the children will be told the centenary history of the CNR and the research activities carried out at the CNR will be illustrated in simple and accessible terms. Researchers will deepen the themes of circular economy, green chemistry and innovative technologies involving pupils and teachers of primary schools in Sassari and its province. In the second part, students will engage in simple experiments focused on the issues of sustainability, renewable energy, the study of ecosystems, the principles of genetics and sustainable recycling. The event aims to focus attention on the challenges that the scientific community has to face daily such as environmental protection, the need for clean energy, expectations on health and well-being, offering an opportunity for reflection to future generations.
